Dr. Maris Mezeckis
A doctor with more than 15 years of experience. During the last 10 years specialises in therapeutic radiology — conventional radiotherapy and radiosurgery. He has worked in Sigulda since 2015. During these years Maris Mezeckis has become a leading specialist in radiosurgery of prostate cancer and metastatic cancer. Currently he elaborates a doctoral thesis on a subject: “Treatment of aggressive prostate cancer”
In 2003, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Riga Stradins University.
In 2008, graduated from the Medical Post-Graduate Education Institute of the University of Latvia, acquiring the profession of radiation oncologist.
Other practical training
In addition to working in the field of medicine, Maris Mezeckis has improved his organising skills by completing master studies at Riga International School of Economics and Business Administration in 2006.
From 2004-2008, he worked at the Oncology Centre of Latvia. Later he was invited to manage Radiotherapy Department in Piejura Hospital in Liepaja city. Whereas between 2010 and 2015 he worked as the Manager at the Radiotherapy Department of Liepaja Regional Hospital.
Since 2015, M. Mezeckis has specialised in radiosurgery, mastering the robotic radiosurgery system CyberKnife®M6 in USA and Italy.
Maris Mezeckis is an author of several scientific publications and has presented papers in conferences, research projects and introduced new medical technologies in a daily work. Dr. Mezeckis has actively promoted public health by establishing and managing the Oncology Development Society and publishing a health promoting publication “Onkoloģijas Vēstis” (Oncology News).
