Prostate cancer treatment
If prostate cancer is diagnosed, it is necessary to take further actions, however sometimes if early detected non-aggressive localized prostate cancer is detected it is possible to defer treatment. There are many ways how to treat prostate cancer.
Are you diagnosed with prostate cancer?
Cyberknife radiosurgery for prostate cancer
CyberKnife radiosurgery also uses radiation to kill cancer cells, however due to the specially designed robotic system and ability to track prostate throughout treatment, radiation is delivered very precisely to prostate and minimally affecting surrounding tissues.
We offer treatment with last generation robot CyberKnifeⓇ M6. CyberKnife radiosurgery gives ability to receive treatment with no incisions, no need for anaesthesia and there is no blood loss. This radiosurgery allows eliminating prostate cancer in the early stage.
During therapy, a large dose of ionising radiation is delivered to a tumour with sub-millimetre precision. As a result, the tumour cells are destroyed and their growth is terminated. This therapy is very effective against tumours giving tumour control for low- and intermediate prostate cancers of 97.4% and 97.1% accordingly in five years. At the same surrounding healthy tissues and organs in the pelvis are spared due to ability of precise dose shaping. Radiosurgery procedure for the prostate usually has low possibility of complications and quality of life is higher than after surgery. Compared with the traditional radiation therapy which normally lasts up to 8 weeks, Cyberknife for prostate cancer helps to fight cancer faster – patient needs to attend only five procedures (the procedure lasts approx. 45 min.). Due to radiobiology parameters of prostate cancer and ability to complete treatment in 4-5 fractions this could potentially give better results comparing to conventional radiotherapy as dose given in five fractions more strongly affects prostate cancer giving up to 30% higher damage to cancer cells.
Prostate radiosurgery is well established and has been used already for more than 10 years. Efficacy and safety in longer time period of 9 years shows good results with no increase in late side effects and good efficacy.
CyberKnife radiosurgery is investigated and widely used for low and intermediate risk cancer, however results for high risk prostate cancer patients also shows good results if regional and distant metastases are excluded carefully.
If you are searching for an appropriate cure for prostate cancer, it is more than possible that Cyberknife is the right option. But to be sure about that, it is necessary for us to see your medical examination results.
